Prairie Life
written by:
SAH
I suspected the hard living.
Prairie life takes a toll
And recreation often comes
In altered states.
Years are crueler against the wind,
When escape seems distant
And city lights are seen
Only on the horizon’s glow.
But her beauty remained
Beneath the patina.
And as my hand swept her cheek
I remembered why I loved her.
